Before you start

Before thinking about what kind of website do I need, a lot of people ask themselves
do I really need a website if my business does not trade online. The reality and honest answer to this is yes. It is important for any business to have a presence on the Internet and its not just any presence. Its all about the right image, colours, layout and content.

Customers and potential customers judge companies on the strength of their website and the freshness of their content. Recent studies show that websites have now become the primary method of researching and purchasing products and services. A good website increases your credibility and is just as essential as business cards, stationary and other promotional materials.
What kind of website do I need?
Choosing a website that is right for your business and needs requires careful consideration. This section below is designed to show you the different kinds of websites we build and to help you make the right choice about the functionality you need from your website.

Note: Remember you are not on your own, and we do help you through every stage. We usually work out your requirements in our first face to face meeting with you.

The Different types of Websites
Static Sites
A Static site is a website that performs very little to no programmed tasks. A Static site acts simply as a online brochure. The content can usually only be updated by a web designer or someone with some html knowledge. By Default we design all static sites with a submit form so customers can interact with you online. The main purpose is a research and reference tool for customers to find out more about your business.
Updatable Sites (Content Management System)
A Content Management System based website allows you the client to update the content on the site when ever you feel like it.
Flash Sites
A Flash site is a website built in Adobe Flash. Flash sites typically use animation and have interactive features. You can also use Flash as an element within a (static, CMS or ecommerce) site to add movement.
E-commerce Sites
E-commerce websites allow the selling of products and services online. E-commerce websites can enable orders, sales, process payments, and produce an invoice.

What preliminary materials do Harmony Digital require?
· Your company logo as well as some examples of your recent advertising materials. This is to obtain an idea of how you like to present your business to the public.
· A list of pages you would like to have on your website and brief descriptions of their content.
· Some examples of websites you have seen that you like and a brief explanation of why you like the site. These websites do not have to relate to the industry your are in.
· If you do not have these materials it is important that you talk to us. We will get you to explain what you like and try and provide some visual examples for you. The key here is the more you explain at this stage, the better we will be able to create an effective design.
What happens next?
We will create a mock up of your webpage and send it to you via email.
It is important to take a good look at the mock up and write down and advise us of any changes you would like to make to the design. Be sure to look at the following:
· Colours
· Page Size
· Text Styles
· Menu Items
· Layout
Because this is what your website will look like, sure the content and images may change but the general layout and colours will look the same.
What can i change when I get the mock up?
You can request any changes you like at this stage. It is important to advise us of any changes you would like at this stage, because once the site starts being coded, changes to the page design and navigation can incur extra costs.
